The I80 corridor leading west through Omaha, Lincoln and Grand Island will in the future be an important artery for Self-Driving Vehicles - from autonomous trucks hauling freight to individual towns and cities creating geo-fenced areas for autonomous taxis and public transit.
Join your county and municipal colleagues and a roster of national, state and local experts at a full-day "Connected and Autonomous Vehicle 101" seminar at the Nebraska Innovation Campus Conference Center to explore the key aspects of the Autonomous Vehicle Economy and the infrastructure and policy changes that satellite cities, small towns and rural communities in Nebraska will need to consider in order to take advantage of coming electrification and self-driving technologies.
Speakers
Lonnie Burklund is the Assistant Director of Transportation for the City of Lincoln, Nebraska. A registered Professional Engineer and PTOE, with extensive experience in the consulting and public agency transportation industry, including Traffic Engineering, Transportation Planning and Design, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), he provides leadership, management and expertise in innovative community service. He is an active member of ITE, MOVITE Board and local chapters, ITS Heartland, and APWA.
Steve Ingracia, Deputy Director, Technology and Strategic Planning, Nebraska Department of Transportation, brings a vision to move the state of transportation technology forward within the State of Nebraska and beyond. He is a licensed professional engineer in Nebraska with broad expertise in telecommunications, software and applications, networking, automation, and intelligent transportation systems.
Dale Neef, the host of the CAV 101 Education Seminar, is an author and strategic technology consultant who advises organizations and communities on "Smart Cities" and autonomous vehicle infrastructure, municipal broadband, and other digital economy issues. A specialist in transportation and supply chain technologies, Dale has been a technical consultant for the Asian Development Bank, has worked for IBM and Computer Sciences Corporation, and was a fellow at Ernst & Young’s Center for Business Innovation. A veteran facilitator, he has conducted executive planning workshops with corporate and municipal teams in more than sixty organizations worldwide, and has taught at a variety of institutions, including Cornell University and at the International School of Management in Paris. A frequent contributor to journals, and a regular speaker at technology conferences, Dale earned his masters and doctorate from Cambridge University, was a research fellow at Harvard, and has written or edited eight books on the economics of knowledge and data management and the role of technology in economic development and society. He is a member of the American Planning Association and the International City/County Management Association.
Larry Rilett is a Distinguished Professor of Civil Engineering and the Keith W. Klaasmeyer Chair in Engineering and Technology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL). He also serves as the Director of the UNL Mid-America Transportation Center, which is the U.S. Department of Transportation Region VII University Transportation Center, and the Nebraska Transportation Center, which is the umbrella organization for all transportation research at the University of Nebraska.
