Darran Anderson is the Director of Strategy and Innovation for TxDOT. His responsibilities include leadership and strategic direction for the innovation and continuous improvement of people, processes and technology of the agency. He oversees the Strategic Planning, Information Management, and Research and Technology Implementation divisions. He directs technology and business process improvements, and strategic research and innovation initiatives across TxDOT. He is also responsible for coordinating TxDOT's strategies and performance analytics. His experience extends across the areas of leadership, strategic planning, operations, portfolio and project management, technology programs, training, tests, experimentation, and modeling and simulation.
Dr. Chandra R. Bhat is the Director of the Data-Supported Transportation Operations and Planning (D-STOP) Tier 1 USDOT University Transportation Center and the Joe J. King Chair in Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin, where he teaches courses in transportation systems analysis and transportation planning. He also served as the Associate Chairman of the Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering, and Director of the Center for Transportation Research.
Dr. Steve Dellenback is Vice President of the Intelligent Systems Division at Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) in San Antonio, Texas. He is leading SwRI’s research and development (R&D) efforts in intelligent transportation systems, unmanned systems, cooperative systems, aeronautical telemetry systems, space flight software, industrial robotics, manufacturing automation and process improvement, specialized sensing, advanced communications systems, embedded systems security and interoperability standards and architectures. He leads SwRI’s work in intelligent vehicles, robotics and cybersecurity including R&D in the areas of automated vehicle, connected vehicle and active safety technologies for commercial, state government, federal government and military clients.
Jason JonMichael is the Assistant Director of Smart Mobility for the City of Austin. A transportation technology expert with more than 25 years in Transportation Technology with specialized experience in connected, automated, and electric vehicle research, deployment and program development.Before joining the City of Austin, he led public private partnerships that focused on emerging technology program development, management and deployment in transportation, a key challenge for transportation agencies to unlock and learn the value of connected and autonomous vehicles. Jason will lead a cross-functional team of mobility, technology, policy, data, and user experience specialists to deliver outcomes that improve mobility, safety, equity, and access to Austin residents. He will also manage public-private-partnerships and the evolution of the Parking Enterprise division in its future role of transportation.
Over the last 25 years, he has performed and managed systems integration services on projects spanning from traditional advanced traffic management systems to state-of-the-art, emerging smart mobility solutions involving connected, autonomous, shared, and electric technologies.He regularly provides insights and advice to industry-related non-profit boards, councils, committees and other organizations. For the past 10 years, Jason has been an executive board member and past Chair of the OmniAir® Consortium, helping guide the creation of OmniAir’s certification services. OmniAir® is regarded by industry as the WiFi® Alliance of Connected Vehicle.
Dale Neef, the host of the CAV 101 Education Seminar, is an author and strategic technology consultant who advises organizations and communities on "Smart Cities" and autonomous vehicle infrastructure, municipal broadband, and other digital economy issues. A specialist in transportation and supply chain technologies, Dale has been a technical consultant for the Asian Development Bank, has worked for IBM and Computer Sciences Corporation, and was a fellow at Ernst & Young’s Center for Business Innovation. A veteran facilitator, he has conducted executive planning workshops with corporate and municipal teams in more than sixty organizations worldwide, and has taught at a variety of institutions, including Cornell University and at the International School of Management in Paris. A frequent contributor to journals, and a regular speaker at technology conferences, Dale earned his masters and his doctorate from Cambridge University, was a research fellow at Harvard, and has written or edited eight books on the economics of knowledge and data management and the role of technology in economic development and society. He is a member of the American Planning Association and the International City/County Management Association.
